The handworking of metal is of paramount importance to BMV Jewellery – everything is worked by Billie from aluminium, copper, brass, bronze and silver sheet, wire and tube, often recovered from scrap yards. Traditional metalsmithing techniques are used, and the material of construction is emphasised, its characteristics and supposed ‘flaws’ – the natural qualities of the metal – are celebrated.
These concerns; longevity, intrinsic value and explicit use of materials, form the nucleus of BMV Jewellery and inform all of Billie’s pieces. Load yourself with the Earth’s elements and make war on perfection!
