Martin Tomsky creates illustrative, relief pieces built up from layers of laser cut, stained plywood. These range in size and shape from very small items of jewellery to much larger, bespoke artworks. Each piece is hand assembled to create a beautiful, organic object that bridges the gap between craft, illustration and sculpture.
Martin’s work owes its strong illustrative quality to his love of books and his time spent studying Illustration at Camberwell College of Arts. Since finishing university Martin has translated his art from the page to the physical by creating intricate works of art which both are both decorative and narrative. Martin now spends three-quarters of his week gluing, sketching, assembling and making a mess in his studio/bedroom whilst dreaming of owning his own laser cutter.
You can shop the collections and meet him alongside 70 other independent designers and makers at our next event at Shoreditch town hall.
