‘This is Knot Jewellery’ questions the change in value hair undergoes when shed from the body, from valued to vile. With this collection I want to give hair new life and almost reattach it to the body in the form of wearable sculptures. as well as the silversmithing techniques used in the silver and stainless steel frames she honed her own twist on the traditional technique of felting to create the felted spheres.
Hair is an endlessly renewable resource and is intrinsically linked with our personalities and growth as humans. Each piece is named after the people who donated to them so they are completely unique and personalised. Rebecca sees a niche for personalised jewellery much like bronzing baby shoes.
You can shop their collections and meet them alongside 70 other independent designers and makers at our next event at Shoreditch town hall.
